We are thrilled to announce that Amy Ferris has offered two full scholarships to attend the Mammoth Women Writer’s Summer Workshop.

Readers for the Mammoth Women Writers' Summer Scholarships for 2018 are Amy Ferris and Lizz Huerta.
Amy Ferris is an author, editor, playwright and screenwriter, whose memoir, Marrying George Clooney: Confessions From A Midlife Crisis, was adapted into an Off-Broadway play. Her screenplay Funny Valentines, was nominated for a BET best screenplay award. She co-wrote the film, Mr. Wonderful; co-edited the anthology Dancing at The Shame Prom; and edited of Shades of Blue: Writers on Depression, Suicide, and Feeling Blue.
Ferris serves on the advisory board of the Women's Media Center (founded by Gloria Steinem, Robin Morgan and Jane Fonda) and co-founded The Milford (Penn.) Readers and Writers Festival. Her morning post on Facebook, “This is what I know. Post Coffee. Pre Wine” is followed by thousands.
Born and raised in Chula Vista, California to Mexican and Puerto Rican parents, Lizz Huerta has been navigating/erasing borders her entire life. Her work has appeared in The Rumpus, Duende, The Portland Review, Winter Tangerine and various other journals and publications. Roxane Gay selected her short story "I, Succubus" as the winner of the Lumina fiction contest and describes Huerta's writing as a "Menacing, inescapable seduction."
The Mammoth Women Writers' Summer Scholarships - Full Tuition
The scholarships cover 100% of tuition and are open to any of the following applicants:
(All applicants must be writers who identify as female or non-binary and must be one (or more) of the following.)
1. Youth aged 15-18.
2. US Military Veteran.
3. Previously incarcerated writer.
4. Educator in the Eastern Sierras.
5. Student enrolled in college in the Eastern Sierras.
6. LGBTQ self-identifying woman or non-binary writer.
7. Self-identifying woman or non-binary writer of color.
8. Writer with a disability or parent of child with a disability.
9. Applicant with combined household income less than $56,000/year.
10. First-responder in the Eastern Sierras (including Fire, EMS, Police/Sheriff, and Search & Rescue).
Scholarships (2 total) include full tuition with admission to both days of the workshop July 14-15, 2018, catered lunch, and admission to the wine and cheese party Saturday evening. The scholarships do not include travel expenses or room and board. Participants must cover these expenses on their own.
1. Applicants will submit a 500 word or less personal statement.
